Newsletter – Autumn Term 2019
Following a successful but short 11 week Summer term featuring our exam day on 29th June, that produced some great results, we are now looking forward to a busy Autumn term at RDA.
Firstly, term dates: PLEASE NOTE term dates are Saturday 7th September to Thursday 24th October and then Monday 4th November to Saturday 14th December (13 week term).
The draft date for the exam day will be Saturday 7th December. Normal classes will run on the morning of the 7th December and then the exams will be scheduled in from around 12.30 onwards. If you have any special requests for time slot, please do mention it to me. Please be aware that I try and schedule all the youngest children towards the beginning of the session and then work through the ‘grades’ so the older children are dancing latest in the afternoon/early evening. Please ensure your child has the correct uniform for their exam. If in doubt, please ask me.
New class this term: Musical theatre classes, junior 4-8 years and inter/senior 9 years and above, will commence on Saturday 7th September. These classes will not run every week however, and the list of dates for MT exam class is:
7th & 21st September, 12th and 26th October, 16th and 30th November and 14th December
Another reminder: It is now compulsory for children to come to class with hair in a bun or in pinned-up plaits for all classes except Freestyle. In general, there is continued improvement in hair tidiness in all classes but please do make sure the hair is pinned securely to avoid time lost during class to re-do buns that are just secured with a bobble. On the above point: children who do not have their hair pinned up will not be admitted to acrobatic dance class due to safety concerns.
Normal class fees have been increased by 5p to keep pace with hall and teach costs. AcroDance, showgroup and adult ballet have stayed the same and show group singing class (5 sessions this term) has increased by 25p.
Show group parents, in recognition of the additional classes and private lesson costs, are invited to pay monthly by standing order on 1st of the month. Please ensure this is in place as I can no longer chase fees on monthly basis – it’s too time consuming and takes my focus away from teaching/choreorgraphy/
costumes etc etc. Also, a further reminder that due to constantly having to chase fees across the board, I am adding a late fee charge of £5 for any fees not paid by the due date – this term that is 21st September. Terms and conditions have been updated to reflect this and a copy will be available at Hugh Ripley Hall and on our website at www.ripondance.co.uk. If you are having difficulty paying fees, please speak to me.
Finally, our show group ‘Elite’ dancers are competing at Star Struck Dance Festival in Barnsley during the October half term. Anyone who would like to come along to support us, please speak to me.
Looking forward to another successful term. That’s all folks!
Miss C 😊
