Due to popular demand the Acrobatic Dance training programme starts this term at Ripon Dance Academy.
Over the past decade, acro' and dance have merged greatly and acrobatic skills are becoming essential to the aspiring dancer. We are responding to this need by offering the Acrobatic Arts graded syllabus.
We do not need to look far to see examples of acrobatic dance which comes at us from our TV screen and on Social Media. Many of our pupils are avid fans of Dance Moms and there have been several outstanding acrobatic groups on Britain's Got Talent in recent years.
Cirque du Soleil's senior talent scout has endorsed the Acrobatic Arts programme and had this to say about the demands made on today's dancers:-
"Cirque du Soleil sees acrobatic training for dancers valuable in the same light as it sees ALL multidisciplinary training for dancers valuable for today's (and tomorrows) artistic workforce. To work in the dance milieu today, mastering several disciplines is almost a necessity; for Cirque du Soleil multidisciplinary is an absolute must for the majority of the dance roles."
Acrobatic Dance is a beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. AcroDance is not the same as gymnastics. An AcroDancer must complete all the skills on the hard stage with the advantage of a sprung floor, while seemlessly integrating musicality, emotinoal expression, extension, control and line.
This programme is designed to promote excellence in flexibility, strength, balance, limbering, tumbling, basic contortion and partner/group stunting for dancers.
Our programme will offer a graded syllabus from Primary to Grade 6.
