Contemporary Dance

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of modern jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.  Contemporary dance classes contain fluid dance movements and grounded floor work using different styles of music to inspire personal artistry and creativity.

Acrobatic Dance

Acrobatic Dance is a beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics.  AcroDance is not the same as gymnastics.  An AcroDancer must complete all the skills on the hard stage without the  advantage of a sprung floor, while seamlessly integrating musicality, emotional expression, extension, control and line.

This programme is designed to promote excellence in flexibility, strength, balance, limbering, tumbling, basic contortion and partner/group stunting for dancers.

Our programme will offer an internally graded syllabus from Primary to Grade 6 and external  IDTA grade exams.

Singing (for Show Group)

An exciting class for Juniors (5-9 years olds) and Inter/Seniors (10 and above).  The children will be working on voice technique, voice production, harmonies and diction under the direction of Helen Johnson. The children will work on age-appropriate songs from stage and film.

Pre School Ballet

A class designed for boys and girls aged 2 and half to school age to encourage musicality, imagination, freedom of movement and build confidence.  Loosely based on classical technique using action songs, stories, percussion and props to inspire movement and create fun.

Based on numbers enrolled, this class may be split into; 2-3 years and 3-4 years.

Ballet (IDTA syllabus)

Ballet and classical technique is the foundation for all dance styles.   The International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) ballet grade syllabus provides the young dancer with challenging and exciting ‘building blocks’ to progress from Preparatory to Advanced II.

Wish you had never given up? Or wish you had taken lessons when you were younger?  Perhaps you are taking GCSE or BTEC dance at school and would like to improve your technique.  Whatever the reason, adult and teen ballet could be for you.  These are non-syllabus classes.

Modern Jazz

Modern jazz is based on classical technique and classes are designed to be a combination of structure and fun.   Classes are set to music from every genre and musicality and performance is encouraged.  Modern jazz is a popular class and a natural progression from classical ballet.   A mix of syllabus and free class format is used.  Classes are currently available from Preparatory level to Grade 5.
